General rules
Any entries that may not comply with the finnish law will be disqualified.
The competition organisers reserve the right to change the compo rules at any time and disqualify any entries for any reason they feel is appropriate.
Remote entries are only allowed in demo and intro competitions. If you would like to participate remotely, send us a link to the entry before the first day of the party. No prizes will be paid for remotely entered productions.
The best way to contact the compo crew is to email the main competition organiser at raimo@streamparty.org.
High-end demo competition
Platforms
- PC with Core 2 Quad 2.6GHz, 4GB RAM, GeForce GTX 260, Windows XP SP3
- MacBook Pro with Core 2 Duo 2.4GHz, 2GB RAM, GeForce 8600M 256MB
- Xbox 360 with XNA creators club membership
Maximum file size is 64MB.
Time limit is 8 minutes.
Entries on platforms not listed above are welcome, but you'll have to contact us about it before the party to find out which competitions it fits in and bring all the required hardware to the party place. In case it's not possible to connect the hardware to the video mixer, you might need to make recording of the production yourself.
Low-end demo competition
Platforms
- HP Mini 2140 with Windows XP SP3, Intel Atom N270, GMA950 and 1GB of RAM
- Amiga 1200 with 060/50MHz accelerator and 64MB RAM
- Game Boy Advance with video adapter and flasher
Maximum file size is 16MB.
Time limit is 8 minutes.
Entries on platforms not listed above are welcome, but you'll have to contact us about it before the party to find out which competitions it fits in and bring all the required hardware to the party place. Oldschool demo competition
Platforms
- Amiga 600 with 1MB + 4MB and hard drive
- Commodore 64 with 1541-II
Maximum file size is 2MB.
Time limit is 8 minutes.
Entries on other 8 and 16 bit platforms are also allowed. If you are unsure which compo your platform would fit in best you can contact us and we'll figure it out together. Also, you'll have to bring all the required hardware to the party place. In case it's not possible to connect the hardware to the video mixer, you might need to make recording of the production yourself.
Tiny intro competition
This competition is basically a 4K intro compo, but you're also encouraged to make an intro below 4K. Size of the entry will be shown on the big screen.
Maximum file size is 4096 bytes.
Time limit is 5 minutes.
High-end, low-end and oldschool platforms are supported (see lists above).
Video/animation competition
Submit your entry in a format that is playable by VLC media player (MPEG4 h264 recommended).
Time limit is 8 minutes.
Dance/listening music competitions
This year we have the same music categories as before, dance and listening music.
A preselection will be conducted by compo organisers if the number of entries exceeds 10 in one category.
Submit as MP3/OGG with a bitrate of at least 160kbps. You may include additional versions of the track in other formats.
Time limit is 4 minutes.
Graphics competition
You may use photos in your entry, but the picture must be primarily made of drawn or rendered elements.
Submit in PNG format together with at least 3 plausible working stages.
Slide show competition
Submit your entry as a series of numbered pictures together with an optional soundtrack. Pictures will be shown with a 10 second interval.
Maximum running time is 3 minutes.
Allowed formats are PNG/JPEG for pictures and MP3/OGG for the soundtrack.
Entries will be shown with the slide show feature of Microsoft Picture and Fax Viewer (with registry tweaked interval time).
